A robust Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES) program goes a long way in helping patients manage this common condition. This four-part webinar series, co-sponsored by IHA, will outline steps to ensure a productive DSMES Program. A certified diabetes educator will share strategies to retain participants, obtain referrals from providers, and maximize insurance reimbursement and measures to support your DSME team.

  • How to get Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (ADCES) accreditation for your DSMES program

  • Medicare reimbursement for Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and the new remote patient monitoring benefit that RNs, RDNs, Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (DCES), Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDES) can furnish (including CMS COVID-19 waivers for benefits)

Following completion of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Assess their current DSMES program and develop a strategy for improvement;

  • Evaluate reimbursement rules and financing your organization’s program; and

  • Develop a marketing plan to maximize participation.

Speakers

Mary Ann Hodorowicz, RDN, MBA, CDE, CEC
Hodorowicz is a licensed registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator. She is also a certified endocrinology coder and owns a private practice specializing in corporate clients in Palos Heights. Her clients include healthcare entities, professional membership associations, pharmacies, medical continuing education and training firms, government agencies, food and pharmaceutical companies, academia, and employer groups. Hodorowicz served on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) from 2013 to 2015 and was chair of AADE’s Advanced Practice Community of Interest Group in 2016. In 2016 she was nominated for the Award in Excellent Practice of the Weight Management Practice Group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
